INSPECTION; a PAT test is a routine inspection of electrical appliances to check that they are safe to use. To prevent electrical accidents from occurring in the workplace, all items should be inspected thoroughly.

JUDGEMENT; sometimes items do not need a PAT test. It is down the judgement of an individual as to whether an item needs to be tested or not. Manufacturers rigorously check new equipment. Checking older equipment over for obvious damage first can help you decided whether testing is necessary or not.

KNOWLEDGE; ensuring employees have adequate knowledge of electrical safety is an essential process. This is key to ensure everyone’s protected against accidents.  It may just seem like common sense, but it really can’t be stressed enough how important it is to promote electrical safety.

LANDLORDS; anyone who rents out a property to a tenant must make sure that any portable appliances they supply have been subjected to rigorous PAT testing. Landlords are liable for faulty appliances if accidents are proven to be caused by their supplied appliances.

What will happen during the test?

One of our Total Safe engineers will perform a visual inspection of your appliances, and a more in-depth check using specialist PAT testing equipment. This test includes earth continuity, lead polarity, and insulation resistance checks.

Once tested and deemed safe, your Total Safe engineer will apply a PASS sticker to the appliance. This sticker displays the date when the last test was conducted, the date when the next test is required, the engineer’s name and contact details for Total Safe. PAT Testing Essex and the south east Total Safe UK
