Have you ever noticed one of those little stickers on electrical appliances in your workplace? Green stickers on electrical appliances - Total Safe UK, Essex and London

With PAT Testing, each appliance should be given a “pass” or “fail” status. Whilst labelling tested equipment with those little red or green labels indicating its status is a prevalent practice, it is not actually a legal requirement in the UK.

Electrical appliances are literally everywhere these days! Hopefully, if your boss is taking the law seriously, you will be surrounded by these little green stickers stating when safety checks were last carried out and when they are next due.

If you come across a sticker on an appliance displaying and expired ‘due date, then you should draw the relevant person’s attention to this.

If you come across a red “fail” sticker, then you should place the condemned appliance beyond use immediately.

Labels need not necessarily be green for “passed” or red for “failed”, but the information they display must always be clear and unambiguous. So, keep an eye on those labels, and keep safe.
