Our first service of the month is Fire Extinguisher Maintenance.

Fire Extinguishers are an active fire protection device used to extinguish/control small fires – they are crucial in controlling the flames before they get too out of hand. Regular Fire Extinguisher Maintenance is essential for ensuring their effectiveness in a potential emergency.

What areas do we cover for Fire Extinguisher Maintenance?

Total Safe are local experts in fire extinguisher maintenance, servicing both small and larger business throughout Essex, London and The South-East.

TIME is Important

For any business, we understand the importance of time. Therefore, we pre-arrange all our service visits with an exact time slot to suit you. A BAFE certified professional will inspect and service your fire extinguishers with a detailed and thorough examination – this is carried out annually to conform with UK regulations.

What should you expect to happen during the service?

A basic fire extinguisher service should be carried out once a year in compliance with British Standards. The service procedure involves:

man operating fire extinguisher

Visually checking the fire extinguisher(s) for any signs of damage/wear and tear etc

Checking that the extinguisher has not been used

Checking that the operating instructions on the unit are still clear and easily readable

Removing the discharge hose and checking for any corrosion/blockages

Weighing the extinguisher and recording its weight on the service label

Wiping down the extinguisher so it’s clean

Ensuring that the wall mountings are secure and in good condition before replacing the appliance back on the wall

Every 5 years water, foam, powder and wet chemical extinguishers also require a more detailed examination. This includes a test discharge of the extinguisher and subsequent recharging. Details of what is involved in an extended service can be found on our blog entry “Fire Extinguisher Servicing – what is involved?

What happens next?

Red Foam Fire ExtinguishersUpon completion, your Total Safe engineer will label the extinguisher(s) with thorough details of our inspection, as well as the date of the following expected service. They will also happily instruct a member of staff on what they can look out for. This will enable them to perform in-house checks themselves for that extra ongoing protection. Our support team will then contact you before the following test is due to arrange our next visit.

We will ensure your extinguishers are always in perfect working order; making the procedure simple and inexpensive and carrying it out with the highest level of care.

What do our customers say about us?

S & S Printing logo testionial Total Safe UK EssexSam, Just a quick note to say thanks for the service you have given us over the last couple of years. It is nice to find a company that schedules even the small company fire extinguisher servicing – we have used many companies in the past and our annual servicing generally got forgotten about. It is important to a business like ours to have fire extinguishers and [health & safety] signage that is compliant and, should we ever need them, ready to work. I have recommended you already and will continue to do so. Dave Stear, S&S Printing
