As a business owner, you will have a least one (but probably many more) fire extinguisher on your premises. You will more than likely walk past it a fair few times a day without even consciously noticing. But, have you ever thought to stop and actually have a look at it?

Visual Inspection of an Extinguisher you can carry out yourself

There are a few things that you can inspect visually to ensure that they are at optimum standard:

VISIBILITY. Check each extinguisher is unobstructed and easily visible.

LEGIBLE INSTRUCTIONS. Check the operating instructions are readable, clean and facing outwards.

LOCKING PIN. Check the locking pin is intact. The tamper indicators/seals should not be broken or damaged in any way.

FULL. The extinguisher should be full. If it has been operated, it should not just be put back!

DAMAGE. Check for any signs of obvious damage; dents, rusting, scratches, cracks etc.

If there are issues with any of the above, give us a call today and we can arrange a consultation to bring your extinguishers back up to the standards they should be, and therefore, ensure that they are compliant with regulations.
