Do you lack job satisfaction? I was on a PAT Testing job last week…. And was asked “Is this what you do all day? Isn’t it a bit boring?”. And it got me thinking….

Whilst I may test and fix the same appliances over and over again, I get to do so in so many different places. (Unlike the guy asking me, who went to sit back down at the same desk that he had probably sat at every week day for the past year!)

To be honest, PAT testing may be a bit monotonous, but there is something quite satisfying about it. Getting a sense of pride when you find a failure and then fix it, knowing that you could have potentially saved someone from electrocution or being in an electrical fire, is more than most get in their day to day jobs.

When I visit a new customer at new premises, being able to show that my hour, day or even my week wasn’t spent in vain makes me smile. How many of you can honestly say that your job makes you feel that way?
