Fire Hydrant Testing
What we did: Following on from some work we carried out previously, we returned to a site in Felixstowe Docks to carry out some hydrant remedial works. Although the hydrant passed the wet test, which measures pressure and checks for damage, the hydrant failed on the visual test. It was faded and dirty, not at all visible from the road, making it difficult for firefighters in the event of an emergency. Luckily. this was easily remedied. One of our engineers reattended site to give the hydrant pit cover a fresh coat of yellow paint and clean the indicator plate to ensure that it was easy to find!
