“Everything is safe”. One of the most common misconceptions of PAT testing, is that when a company receives it’s PAT certificate, everything in their workplace is now safe for ever more. A certificate means that the appliances were safe at the time and place where they were checked. But this could change at any point. Regular checks will ensure they remain safe.

“PAT testing must be carried out every year!” Not necessarily. The responsible person must carry out a risk assessment and make a decision based on the type of appliances, level of risk, and so on.

“I need the cheapest quote”. Some engineers are in a race to rack up as many tests as they can in a day, due to unrealistically low unit prices. You cannot test in double-quick time without sacrificing quality somewhere along the way! Do you want safety or compliance? The answer should always be both.
