Basic Life Support is such a key life skill to have. Have you ever been catching up on your favourite series and someone comes running in to help someone in an emergency? It’s kind of heroic really! Although it’s probably not as dramatic as it does on the big screen, BLS is such an important skill. But it’s also not for everyone.
What is Basic Life Support?
Basic Life Support (BLS) is a level of medical care used in emergency, life-threatening situations until the victim can be cared for professionally by a team of paramedics or at a hospital. It can help people who are choking, drowning or are suffering from cardiac arrest. It can make the difference between life and death for some people.
If you could see yourself stepping in and being hands-on in an emergency, then it might be worth signing up for a course. At a very basic level, BLS will give you the knowledge of securing the proper circulation, airways and breathing of a patient to keep them alive until an ambulance or another medical professional can arrive on the scene and take it from there.
